TANAH LOT


According to the Balinese, the mean of Lot is harsh or sea. Tanah Lot in Bali there is a temple that is located on the small coral islands that visited by many tourists, especially near sunset. For the Balinese, the temple in Tanah Lot is sea temple that revered.
According to legend, this temple was built by a Brahmana who wander from Java. He is a Sanghyang Nirantha that successful reinforce the belief of the Balinese about teachings Hindu and build Sad Kahyangan on the 16th century. At the time, the ruler of Tanah Lot, Bendesa Beraben, jealous of him because his followers began to leave and follow Sanghyang Nirantha.

Bendesa Beraben told  Sanghyang Nirantha to leave the Tanah Lot. He agreed, and before leaving the Tanah Lot, with its power he move stone blocks into the middle of the beach (not into the sea) and built temples there.
He also changed his shawl into a snake temple guards. This snake is still there today and scientifically, snakes include species of sea snakes that have characteristic flat tail like a fish, striped yellow and black, and have 3 times more potent venom of cobra snakes. End of the legend states that Bendesa Beraben eventually became a follower Sanghyang Nirantha.
Pura Tanah Lot, Bali is located in the Village Beraban Kediri District the located about 13 km from the city of Tabanan, Bali. When low tide visitors can directly get to the court of the temple to pray. If the sea water was high tide, the Pura Tanah Lot will look like a boat floating on the water.
